The #1 Mindset Shift That Changed How I See Discipline
Introduction
Last week I talked about THE 3 TOP REASONS WHY I CHOSE "DISCIPLINED" AS MY WORD FOR 2025.
This week I want to talk about the #1 mindset shift I had to make for 2025. For most of my life, discipline has felt like a mountain I couldn’t quite climb. I come from a long line of procrastinators on my mom’s side and over-the-top starters who never finish on my dad’s side. If I’m being honest, I’ve inherited both. When I dive into something, I go ALL IN—like launching 114 collections in my Kingdom Mindset Collection, each with 22 products. Or choosing one of the hardest marathons, the Maui Marathon, for my very first race.
Yet, despite my relentless ambition, I’ve struggled for years in three major areas: my weight, my business, and my relationships. I’ve tried for 12 years to lose 50 pounds, eight years to build a profitable business, and 21 years convincing myself that I don’t need a man, that I’m fine handling everything on my own. But the truth? I’ve been stuck in my masculine energy for far too long, and it’s been wearing me down—physically, emotionally, and mentally.
This year, that all changes. This is my year. No more wishing, hoping, or half-finishing. I am locking in on my goals with unwavering determination. But here’s the kicker—I had to make a critical mindset shift to get to this point. And it’s the #1 reason why I now see discipline differently.
The #1 Mindset Shift: Discipline is Devotion, Not Deprivation
For years, I saw discipline as something restrictive. A burden. A chore. Something that took away my freedom. But I’ve realized that discipline is not about deprivation—it’s about devotion. Devotion to myself, my future, my well-being, and the legacy I’m building.
Here’s how this shift has completely transformed my approach:
1. Discipline Is an Act of Self-Love
I used to think that forcing myself to eat healthy, exercise, or stick to a business plan was punishment. But now, I see it as love in action. Discipline is showing up for myself in ways that my future self will thank me for. Just like I wouldn’t neglect a child or a loved one, I refuse to neglect the version of me that’s waiting on the other side of consistency. Every time I follow through, I am proving to myself that I am worth the effort.
2. Discipline Is a Commitment to Who I Want to Become
Instead of focusing on what I have to give up, I focus on who I am becoming. I’m becoming a healthier, wealthier, and more emotionally balanced woman. I’m stepping into my feminine energy, creating space for the kind of man who is fully in his masculine. I’m becoming the version of me that walks in purpose and power. Discipline is no longer about checking off boxes—it’s about aligning my daily actions with the vision I have for my life.
3. Discipline Gives Me More Freedom, Not Less
For years, I thought being disciplined meant being trapped. But in reality, the more disciplined I become, the more freedom I gain. When I honor my body, I gain the freedom of health and vitality. When I commit to my business, I gain the financial freedom I’ve been chasing. When I embrace my feminine energy, I gain the freedom to experience love and connection in a way that feels natural and fulfilling. True discipline sets me free, not the other way around.
Conclusion
I’ve spent years battling with discipline, seeing it as the enemy, but the moment I shifted my perspective, everything changed. Discipline is not about depriving myself—it’s about devoting myself to the life I truly want. It’s about self-love, commitment to my future, and unlocking the kind of freedom that only comes with consistency.
